Batchilly Wants Barrow to Make National Security a Priority After Officers’ Deaths

Musa Yali Batchilly, Secretary General and Party Leader of Gambia Action Party (GAP) urges President Adama Barrow to give paramount importance to and prioritize the nation’s security measures after the tragic shooting incident resulting in the death of two police officers and the injury of another.

“I urge President Adama Barrow to prioritize and bolster our nation’s security measures. We cannot allow grave crimes to go unchecked, and we must ensure that justice is swift and unforgiving when it concerns the lives of our fellow citizens. Those who protect us should not fall victim to violence with impunity.

“Let us remember that the men and women of our police force risk their lives daily to ensure our safety. Their dedication to duty should inspire us to support and strengthen our security institutions. We must provide them with the necessary resources and training to carry out their vital role effectively,” the GAP leader said.

Gambia Action Party leader also expresses his condolences to the Gambia Police Force for the deaths of two officers in the line of duty.

“It is with heavy hearts that we confirm the tragic news of three brave policemen being shot, resulting in the loss of two lives while the other valiant officer fights for his survival. In these somber moments, I, Musa Ousainou Yali Batchilly, extend my deepest condolences to the Inspector General of Police and the entire police force. The Gambia and her people stand with you in this time of mourning.

“The loss of these officers is a stark reminder of the immense sacrifices made by our police force daily to protect our nation and its citizens. Their dedication and commitment to upholding the law and ensuring the safety of our communities deserve our utmost respect and gratitude. In light of this tragedy, it is imperative that we take a moment to reflect on the security situation in our beloved Gambia. We cannot afford to take national security lightly. The safety of our citizens and the maintenance of law and order must remain paramount,” he said.

In conclusion, the GAP leader also offered condolences to the families of the fallen officers and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured one.
