The Speaker of the National Assembly and leader of the Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction (APRC), Hon. Fabakary Tombong Jatta, has stated that supporters of his party favor the continuation of its alliance with President Adama Barrow’s National People’s Party (NPP), commending President Barrow for fostering peace and national stability.

Speaking at a political meeting in Madina Sancha in the Lower River Region as part of the APRC’s ongoing nationwide tour, Hon. Jatta underscored the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the country.

He noted that one of the considerations behind the alliance was to ensure a stable national environment, adding that such conditions were necessary for reconciliation and unity, including hopes for the peaceful return of former President Yahya Jammeh.

“What we thought then was the stability of the country so that God could bring former President Yahya Jammeh back here in peace,” he said.

The APRC leader explained that the purpose of the nationwide tour is to engage supporters at the grassroots level and gather their views on the future of the APRC-NPP partnership ahead of the 2026 presidential election.

“That’s the tour we are conducting, asking people,” he said. “From all we have heard so far, the APRC people said they have agreed for the APRC-NPP alliance to continue.”

Hon. Jatta also criticised the opposition United Democratic Party (UDP), calling for divine protection “from the Yellow,” a reference to the party’s colour.

Defending President Barrow’s leadership, he argued that his contributions extend beyond infrastructure development.

“We should also know that President Barrow does not only build road infrastructure; President Barrow has brought peace and stability. Let us not belittle peace,” he added.
