Ambassador Dawda D Fadera

By: Pa Sako Darboe
First Secretary at the Embassy of the Gambia in Washington DC

It is with deep sadness and shock that I learn of the passing of Ambassador Dawda Fadera. Ambassador Dawda Fadera was a true gentleman who served his country with dedication and purpose. During my interaction with him as the Ambassador of The Gambia to Washington, DC, in these past years, I have found him an excellent human being with an impeccable character. Ambassador Fadera never discriminated against anyone. Despite his Ambassadorial position, he treated everyone with dignity and equality. He believed in teamwork to get the desired results.
During his tenure, Banjul and Washington, DC enjoyed an excellent relationship, and he deserves credit for this development. He has served his country with distinction, reconnecting, and engaging with the Gambian communities in the United States, Canada, Brazil, and Mexico – something that has been missing for many years.

A restless human being and a true Muslim, Ambassador Fadera was often working both day and night, even at late night to make sure the welfare of Gambians was protected and promoted. His doors were always open. Even in his sick bed, Ambassador Fadera was engaging and working with the staff at the Embassy. Accommodating and caring, he respected everyone regardless of age or social status. Always smiling and jovial, he had no hatred in his heart.

His loss is not only felt by the Government of The Gambia, but to the entire populace of The Gambia.
As you laid to rest, I pray that God have mercy on your soul and welcome you to Jannatul Firdaus. Sleep well and in peace, till we meet again.
