The Gambia Immigration Department has announced plans to send a mobile biometric passport enrollment team to Spain and Italy in October, the latest effort to make travel documents more accessible to Gambians living abroad.

The enrollment exercise, scheduled for Oct. 4 to 11, 2026, will be carried out through the Ministry of Interior in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Gambians Abroad, according to a public notice issued by the department.

It will be the fifth mobile biometric passport enrollment mission organized for Gambians in the diaspora.

The Immigration Department said Gambians living in Spain and Italy, as well as those elsewhere in Europe, could take advantage of the exercise to apply for valid Gambian passports.

“The mobile team will deliver enrollment services at designated locations in both Spain and Italy, as detailed in the attached schedule,” the department said.

Applicants will also be able to pay passport application fees online through the government’s designated payment portal.

The department said the initiative is part of a broader effort to improve services for Gambians abroad, particularly access to essential documentation needed for lawful travel.

It added that providing easier access to passports would also help protect the rights and interests of Gambians living overseas.

“The GID urges all Gambians in the diaspora to leverage this initiative to secure a valid travel document,” the department said.
