Essa Mbye Faal, leader of the APP-Sobeyaa Party, has appealed to Gambians to give his party an opportunity to govern, pledging to lead an administration that serves all citizens and safeguards public resources.

Speaking about the party’s next steps following its withdrawal from Coalition 2026 talks led by the Coalition Mediation Committee, Faal said APP-Sobeyaa would take time to assess the political landscape before deciding its course of action.

He said the party would review its options and make its decision based on data and what he described as reliable assumptions.

“But what is certain is that APP-Sobeyaa has a strong candidate, who is trusted by the public for truthfulness, competence, fairness, knowledge, and a proven track record,” Faal said.

He argued that such qualities were necessary to confront the country’s challenges and move The Gambia forward.

Faal also claimed that his support was growing across the country, particularly among young people, whom he said increasingly viewed his candidacy as an alternative to the country’s current political leadership.

Turning to governance, Faal pledged that an APP-Sobeyaa administration would not be controlled by political interests, family members, or what he described as a cabal.

He also promised to strengthen accountability and protect public finances, saying his government would make preventing the misuse and theft of state resources a priority.

On social services, Faal pledged to improve the quality of education and promote a stronger sense of patriotism among Gambians across generations.

He appealed to voters to give APP-Sobeyaa the “opportunity and privilege” to govern, promising an administration that he said would work in the interest of all Gambians.
