Kemo Bojang, Deputy Party Leader for Political Matters and Governance for the Unite Movement for Change (UMC), has expressed strong confidence that the party will either form the next government or play a key role in it following The Gambia’s next presidential election.

In an interview on Bitilo, Bojang stated that he has no doubt about UMC’s prospects, emphasizing both his certainty and optimism about the party’s political trajectory.

“UMC is in politics to win elections and not in it to say we are testing our powers. We are here to win,” he stated.

Bojang further noted that both UMC and its leader, Talib Ahmed Bensouda, have gained significant national recognition. He described the movement as one of the most structured political organizations the country has seen.

He added that UMC aims to reshape The Gambia’s political landscape, stressing that the party’s support base is not defined by geography but by shared socioeconomic concerns.

“Our demographic base is the poor Gambians, the destitute youth, the hopeless women, and farmers who do not know where to get fertilizers and do not know where to sell their groundnuts. For us, we believe that we are spread all over the country, and we represent the wishes and aspirations of the Gambian people,” he added.
