Justice Ebrima Jaiteh on Monday granted bail of D50,000 each—or one Gambian surety—to Ousainou Bojang and his sister Amie Bojang after acquitting them in the Sukuta‑Jabang traffic light shooting that left two police officers dead and a third injured.

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) confirmed that the State intends to appeal the ruling under Sections 382 and 325 of the Criminal Procedure Act, which provide for judicial review of acquittals.

The case attracted national attention due to the severity of the incident and the contested evidence presented during the trial. The appeal will determine whether the High Court’s decision will stand or be overturned by a higher court.
