President Adama Barrow on Saturday described himself as “ambitious” and “confident” as he toured ongoing development projects in the Kanifing Municipality and the West Coast Region, saying his years in office have strengthened his capacity to deliver major infrastructure across the country.

Speaking during the inspection, President Barrow said his confidence is rooted in experience gained over nine years in office, which has enhanced his understanding of governance and project implementation.

“I am not concerned. I am very ambitious, very aggressive, very confident, and very innovative,” the President said.

He explained that his time in office has equipped him with the practical knowledge needed to effectively execute development projects for the benefit of Gambians.

“This is all because I have been in office for nine years. With that experience, I am really confident that we can deliver these projects to the Gambian people,” he added.

President Barrow said the tour was part of routine inspections aimed at assessing progress on road and other infrastructure projects, noting that some of the sites had not been visited since their foundation stones were laid.

“It is just the traditional inspection of our projects. Most of these projects that I visited, I have never been to since I laid the foundation,” he said.

He added that the visits also provided an opportunity to engage directly with contractors, consultants, and local communities to better understand challenges and determine the way forward.

“I decided to go and see how they are progressing, what the way forward will be, and also to listen to the contractors, the consultants, and the community,” he said.

President Barrow reiterated that infrastructure development remains a cornerstone of his administration’s development agenda, emphasizing its critical role in improving livelihoods and driving economic growth.

“No infrastructure, no development. If you want to develop this country we have to do our infrastructure,” he said.
