President Barrow Leads Mass NPP Rally, Opens GRA Conference, Inaugurates New NPP Basse Bureau, URR, Unveils Multimillion Dollar Rural Electricity Access Project In CRR

Banjul, The Gambia — His Excellency, President Adama Barrow, will on Sunday, 30th April 2023, preside over a mass political rally at the Tallinding Buffer Zone for mayoral nominees of his National People’s Party (NPP). The President will endorse and showcase the candidature of three of the NPP’s Chairmanship and Mayoral nominees for Brikama Area Council (BAC), Kanifing Municipality (KM) and Banjul City Council (BCC).

Thereafter, President Barrow will on Thursday, 4th May 2023, open the International Conference of Directors General of West and Central Africa Regions hosted by The Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre in Bijilo. 

Later that Thursday afternoon, President Barrow leaves for his native Mankamang Kunda village. On Friday, 5thMay 2023, Mr Barrow inaugurates the newly-built NPP Political Bureau in Basse.

President Barrow will then inaugurate “Phase One” of The Gambia Electricity Modernization and Restoration Project (GEMRP) on Saturday 6th May 2023 at the Kaleng Junction, CRR-North.  A communiqué from the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC) hails the project as a significant milestone that “will improve the livelihood of the people in the beneficiary communities through enhanced delivery of quality health care, education, agricultural production, industrialization and job creation.”

Specifically, “GERMP Phase One Project”, which costs some $8.2 million (close to six hundred million Dalasis), serves some 46 rural communities located between Lamin Koto in the Sami District, CRR and Diabugu in the Sandu District, URR. 

President Barrow and party will return to Banjul on Sunday, 7th May 2023.
