The Truth Commission resumes sittings on Wednesday
The Truth Commission probing the human rights violations of the former dictator Yahya Jammeh has differed its Tuesday sitting due to unavailability of the witness.
The unidentified witness could not appear due to reason unexplained by the Commission. This is the second time the Commission postponed its sittings since its start on January 7.
The first one was as a result of technical problems caused by an electric spark. The Commission has heard 13 witnesses since its start, a greater number of whom were tortured victims of the former self-style ruler Jammeh.
On Monday, two witnesses Omar Jallow, a former leader of the People’s Progressive Party and Batch Samba Jallow, a former primary school headmaster, have testified.
Both witnesses were victims of torture and inexplicable treatment during their months of detention at National Intelligence Headquarters and Fajara Barracks.
Batch was accused of organizing a coup with Americans while Omar Jallow refused to be silenced by the junta who banned their party after the coup.
