Trust Bank has strengthened its longstanding support for the national health sector with a donation of dialysis supplies valued at D300,000 to the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) in Banjul. The presentation, held on Tuesday, is expected to boost the hospital’s capacity to provide critical care for patients living with kidney disease.

The donated items comprise essential materials used daily in the dialysis process, helping ensure uninterrupted treatment for patients who rely on this life-saving service. The Dialysis Unit remains one of EFSTH’s busiest departments, serving individuals from all regions of the country.

This latest contribution marks the sixth consecutive year of Trust Bank’s support for the unit. The annual gesture is made in memory of the late Ebrima Frazer, a former staff member who passed away from kidney disease. Through this initiative, the bank continues to honor its legacy while assisting patients facing similar health challenges.

Kidney disease remains a growing public health concern in The Gambia, with many affected individuals unable to afford the regular dialysis treatment required to sustain their health.

Speaking on behalf of the managing director, Trust Bank’s Head of Sales and Public Relations, Amie Kolleh Secka, reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to meaningful community investment.

“At Trust Bank, we are deeply moved by the reality that so many of our fellow citizens are suffering due to the lack of access to these essential supplies. This is a situation we are determined to help address,” he said.

Chief Medical Director of EFSTH, Dr. Mustapha Bittaye, expressed appreciation for the bank’s consistent support, noting its significant impact on patient care.

“So this has been happening all the time. It’s part of the culture now of the hospital and especially dialysis; they support in areas that we really, really need them. So we all know that people who come to use our facilities here, they go through sometimes a lot, and any support to them is supporting Gambians where it’s impactful. They also support Tanka Tanka, areas that we really need support,” he said.

Dr. Lamin Saihou Sima also commended Trust Bank for the generous donation and emphasized the rising prevalence of kidney disease in the country. He urged the public to take proactive steps toward prevention through healthier lifestyle choices.
