Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and Deputy Spokesperson of the National People’s Party (NPP), Seedy Njie, has said that citizens from other African countries are often astonished by the pace of development and progress taking place in The Gambia under the leadership of President Adama Barrow.

“When people from other African countries come to The Gambia for meetings, they often ask, ‘How is your president managing to achieve all this?’” Njie told a gathering.

He recounted instances where visitors from Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea-Conakry, and Côte d’Ivoire expressed amazement at the scope of ongoing projects, questioning how the president secures the resources to deliver such results.

Njie commended President Barrow for what he described as prudent management of national resources, contrasting his administration’s performance with that of former presidents Sir Dawda Jawara and Yahya Jammeh.

“It is the same country that was governed by previous administrations—without oil or diamonds—yet no president has achieved the level of development that President Barrow is delivering,” he stated.
The Deputy Speaker made these remarks at the president’s residence in Mankamang Kunda during a meeting with residents from the Upper River Region (URR) and Lower River Region (LRR).

Njie also cautioned citizens against individuals, he said are attempting to discredit the president’s work and sow discord among Gambians.
