President Adama Barrow has told residents of Foni that his administration has delivered greater peace to the region than that experienced under former President Yahya Jammeh, while calling for unity and national cohesion.

Speaking during a ceremony to lay the foundation stone for feeder road construction in Foni, President Barrow emphasized his government’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability.

“I have not arrested, killed, or forced anyone into exile. I have not brought witch-hunters here; those practices existed before. What I have brought to Foni is peace upon peace,” he said.

The president further argued that holding office does not change an individual’s character but rather reveals it. He noted that his reputation as a peaceful leader reflects his longstanding disposition. “As the griots have said, I am a peaceful person—indeed, a peaceful president,” he added.

President Barrow stressed that peace is essential for both national and community development, urging residents to preserve harmony and work collectively toward shared goals.

Addressing governance and leadership, he reminded citizens of the importance of democratic succession. “Let us remain united. In any country, only one person can serve as president at a time, and no one holds that position forever. You serve your term and allow others the opportunity to continue,” he said.
