Ebrima Tabora Manneh, leader of the People’s Alliance Party (PAP), on Saturday called on residents of Tujereng to vote for leaders who will prioritize national interests and remain faithful to the electorate once in office.

Addressing supporters at a PAP rally in the coastal village in the West Coast Region, Manneh encouraged residents to critically assess those seeking their votes. He told them they may accept gifts offered by politicians—particularly those from the government—but should ultimately cast their ballots for individuals committed to serving the country rather than betraying its citizens.

“Vote for those who will work for the country,” he said. “Whether that is us or someone else is up to you. What matters is choosing leaders who will not turn their backs on you and on The Gambia. For us, we want a contract between Gambians and the PAP. We have already signed our part; it is up to Gambians to decide whether to sign theirs.”

Manneh assured the crowd that a PAP-led government would make every Gambian proud of their nationality and respected internationally. He urged citizens to believe in their own abilities, noting that the development progress seen in other countries is attainable in The Gambia if people remain committed and compassionate toward one another.

“I am ready to do anything for this country, as long as it is good and in line with the law,” he said. “The Gambia should matter to each of you so that together we can develop it and live dignified lives with our families.”

The PAP leader also decried the high levels of corruption in the country, stating that only a small group of individuals currently benefits from the nation’s resources.
