Ebrima Tabora Manneh, leader of the People’s Alliance Party (PAP), has vowed that his party will not compromise its principles for financial incentives or political appointments, insisting that integrity and honesty remain central to its political identity.

Speaking in an interview with The Fatu Network, Mr. Manneh said the PAP places a premium on patriotism, integrity, honesty, and reputation, describing those values as non negotiable.

He expressed concern about the country’s direction, arguing that the government had underperformed in several sectors and had made insufficient progress since 2021.

While acknowledging that no government is perfect, Mr. Manneh said the administration’s overall performance had fallen short of his party’s expectations.

He nevertheless credited the government with improvements in road infrastructure, ferry services, and electricity access. He also welcomed the freedom Gambians enjoy to criticize the government, describing it as a hard-won democratic achievement that the administration has allowed to flourish.

Mr. Manneh rejected the notion that acknowledging government achievements amounts to endorsing President Adama Barrow or joining his National People’s Party (NPP).

He emphasized that the PAP is not driven solely by the pursuit of political power and would continue to recognize government achievements while holding the administration accountable for its shortcomings.

The party, he said, remains committed to principled politics and will neither sacrifice its credibility for personal gain nor withhold praise when the government acts in the national interest.
