Hon. Bakary K. Badjie, National Assembly Member for Foni Bintang Constituency and presidential aspirant for the 2026 elections, has reaffirmed his commitment to contest the country’s highest office. Speaking during a recent community gathering in Batabutu Kantora, Foni Bintang, Badjie called on Gambian youth to rise against economic inequality and take charge of their future.

Addressing a passionate crowd, Badjie delivered a strong message of urgency and resolve.

“It is either now or never, we are ready to stand for our nation with no retreat or surrender. The youth of our beloved nation the Gambia, the time is now, and we are ready to liberate ourselves from slavery, slavery from our own people who are enslaving us. Enough is enough, we can no longer be patient. Tell the scammers of the nation that the time is now,” he said.

He further encouraged all Gambians, particularly those not yet aligned with his movement, to join what he described as a growing national push for change.

Badjie emphasized unity, resilience, and determination in the face of challenges, asserting that no external pressure would derail his campaign.

“No force can stop us from progressing. No amount of intimidation can stop us from progressing. It is now or never. Forward for our nation and forward for the liberation of ourselves from this economic scamming. Enough is enough. We are ready, we are not turning left or right, forward only. I pray for the development of this country and I pray for us to win in 2026. I want everybody to stand up and join us because we will win in 2026,” he said.

The Foni Bintang lawmaker formally announced his intention to run for president in February 2025. His campaign centers on tackling economic hardship, empowering youth, and confronting what he terms “economic scamming” in national governance.
