The National Assembly’s Special Select Committee on the sale and disposal of former President Yahya Jammeh’s assets has reported inconsistencies in the official records of vehicles at State House.

During the committee’s initial inspection on Monday, Chairman Abdoulie Ceesay disclosed that while records submitted to the committee indicated more than 25 vehicles, only 25 were physically accounted for at the State House premises.

“Of course, we will be going to other garages to see and tally that with the information we have. So by the time we are done with that, we will know how many vehicles are currently here, and those that are not in town, we will be able to confirm that later,” Hon. Ceesay explained.

The inspection further revealed that only three of the 25 vehicles at State House are operational, while the remainder are out of service. “Most of them, the keys were not around, and they are not in use,” the committee chairman added.

Among the vehicles identified were nine Hummers (both long and short models), Lincoln limousines, two Hovers, a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, and a Nissan Patrol, among others.

Hon. Ceesay underscored the importance of the visit, noting that firsthand information is crucial to the committee’s findings and will form part of its final report.

Meanwhile, the committee announced that the media will no longer accompany its team during subsequent inspections, citing concerns that coverage could compromise the integrity of the ongoing investigation. A press briefing will be held at the conclusion of the committee’s tour.
