The Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) assured Gambians of a free, fair and transparent election ahead of December 4 polls.

“No person or authority can influence the voting pattern of the IEC. For us at IEC, no matter what people write about us, what they say about us, particularly what they say about me. I just say as far as we are concerned no authority or person can derail the system we adopt. That is why the December 4 election is going to be transparent, free and fair. There is no way anybody can influence the results of the election. So whatever they write or say about us as far as we are concerned we will do it accurately, transparently and fairly,” Alieu Momar Njie, IEC Chairman said.

The Independent Electoral Commission Chairman further stated that so far they have not received any complaint from any polling station since they posted the list of registered voters.

Alieu Momar Njie made these remarks on 14th September 2021 at Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara Conference centre during the IEC meeting with the media and the Civil Society Organisations.
