The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has issued an official statement discrediting a circulating social media advertisement falsely claiming the Commission is recruiting election personnel.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, the IEC firmly stated that it is not conducting any recruitment exercise at this time and disassociated itself from the unauthorized advert.

“The general public is hereby informed that the IEC has nothing to do with such unsolicited advertisement,” the Commission stated, adding that the post originated from a misleading online source known as “Global-news.”

According to the IEC, the false recruitment advert has been circulating since 6 August 2025 via Facebook and WhatsApp, and includes a link purportedly leading to an application portal.

The fraudulent advertisement claims that the IEC is seeking to hire for several positions, including:

  1. Assistant Regional Election Officers (6 positions – Grade 7)
  2. Polling Station Staff (Grade 5)
  3. Field Supervisors (Grade 5)
  4. Drivers
  5. Enrollment Agents (Grade 8)
  6. Office Assistants (Grade 5)
  7. And other unspecified positions

The IEC warns the public not to engage with or respond to the advertisement, as it is not affiliated with the Commission in any way.

For accurate and up-to-date information, the public is advised to consult the IEC’s official website at www.iec.gm or its verified social media platforms.
