Hon. Yaya Menteng Sanyang, National Assembly Member For Latrikunda

The National Assembly Member for Latrikunda Sabiji and a senior figure in the Unite Movement for Change (UMC), Hon. Yahya Menteng Sanyang, has expressed strong confidence in the leadership of UMC leader and Kanifing Municipal Council Mayor, Talib Ahmed Bensouda, describing him as well-positioned to deliver “unprecedented” results.
“With a candidate as relatable and marketable as Talib, whose approval and favorability ratings are exceptionally high, we are prepared to deliver unprecedented results together,” Hon. Sanyang said.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Hon. Sanyang reflected on his political strategy during the 2022 National Assembly elections, noting that he departed from the United Democratic Party’s (UDP) traditional campaign approach. He said this shift enabled his team to secure victories in constituencies and polling units that had not previously been won by a UDP candidate.
“When I entered politics in 2022 as a UDP-sponsored candidate for the National Assembly Elections, I departed from the party’s traditional approach. By doing so, my team and I secured victories in areas and polling units that had never before been won by a UDP candidate,” he said.
Hon. Sanyang further revealed that the Unite Movement for Change is intensifying efforts to expand its national base by recruiting “thousands” of young and new political actors across the country. He called on supporters to join the movement, stressing its commitment to nurturing future leaders.
“Join UNITE because we intend to recruit thousands of young and new politicians across the country who will be potential councilors, National Assembly Members, Mayors, chairmen, ministers, and Presidents.”, he said.
