Gambia Police Provide Update on Ongoing Cybercrime Case

The Gambia Police Force has provided an update on a major cybercrime case involving 42 foreign nationals, including five Chinese and 37 Nigerian citizens, who were recently arraigned at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.
The individuals face charges of Unlawful Possession of Devices and Data and Computer-Related Offences, including Fraud and Forgery, contrary to Sections 168 and 173 of the Information and Communications Act 2009.
“All 42 accused persons pleaded not guilty and were each granted bail in the sum of D300,000 with two Gambian sureties who must depose to an affidavit of means,” the police stated.
The case has been adjourned to 11 September 2025 for the continuation of proceedings.
The Gambia Police Force reiterated its commitment to investigating the matter thoroughly and ensuring that justice is served in accordance with the law.
