The Gambia has lost to our neighbours Senegal tonight, but qualified to the semifinals of the WAFU Zone A tournament.

The Young Scorpions were not able to cancel the Senegalese 6th minute penalty opener at the Stade Olympique  for the entire ninety minutes.

“It’s always difficult when you concede an early and an unfair goal like this. We all saw the game. We played better, we showed why we are champions, but it is a shame that we continue to face these bad refereeing” the Young Scorpions’ Head Coach, Abdoulie Bojang is quoted as saying by the Gambia Football Federation after the game.

The Gambia will now face Mali In the Semifinals, after finishing second in group E.

Prior to tonight’s encounter, the Gambia U20 have levelled on points with their neighbours Senegal (Seven points each) after a draw against Guinea in their third game on Saturday.

The Young Scorpions have opened their ongoing WAFU tournament in the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott with a 2-0 win over Cape Verde, and then thrashed Liberia 4-1 in their second game on 1st September.
