The Gambia Immigration Department has promoted 91 senior and superior officers, elevating personnel across ranks from Assistant Superintendent of Immigration to Commissioner of Immigration, officials said.
The promotions, processed through the Personnel Management Office, took effect on Jan. 2, 2025, and were described by the department as part of its broader leadership strategy and institutional reform agenda.
In a statement, the department said the advancements were intended to recognize dedication to duty and exemplary service while also strengthening leadership capacity within the force in line with its strategic plan.
Speaking on behalf of the Director General of Immigration, the Deputy Director General, Hulay Jallow, congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to uphold professional standards commensurate with their new responsibilities.
“Every rank bestowed on a shoulder surfaces with bigger responsibilities,” the department said, calling on the officers to serve with integrity and to support ongoing reforms within the immigration service.
