Fresh Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign Targets 60% Of Population

The Ministry of Health today briefed the media about a fresh Covid-19 vaccination campaign scheduled to run from 9th to 15th May 2022.

Johnson and Johnson, Sinopharm and Pfizer are the vaccines available for this campaign targeting 60 percent of The Gambia’s population.

Speaking to journalists, Modou Njai, Director of Health Promotion and Education, Ministry of Health appealed to the public to come out in large numbers and take the vaccine to save them from the virus.

“We will Targeting  ‘Bantabas’, schools ,markets and  crossing points to make sure we reach our target,” he said.

He added that this time, the campaign would be expanded to children from the age of 12 upwards.

Director Njai assured the masses of the safety and efficacy of the vaccines; saying ‘since the vaccination started the death rate has reduced globally’.

He urged the people to be keeping their vaccination cards with them due to its importance on international journeys.

AjaKandeh Jawo, Communication officer at the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) appealed to the public to take the coronavirus vaccine.

“The vaccines are safe and efficient, and can save life,” she said.
