D1.5 Million Bail Granted to Baboucarr Sawo in Connection with Piccadilly Junction Accident

The court has granted bail of D1.5 million to Baboucarr Sawo in relation to an alleged drifting incident at Piccadilly Junction, Tabokoto, which resulted in injuries to an elderly roadside vendor.
Bail conditions require three Gambian sureties, each to swear an affidavit of means and surrender their travel documents. The defendant’s legal team filed an oral bail application, allowing Sawo to remain free pending further proceedings.
The matter has been adjourned to September 17, 2025, for the next hearing. Meanwhile, the Gambia Police Force has affirmed its commitment to diligently pursue the case and ensure that justice is served in accordance with the law.
