The Brikama Area Council (BAC) has announced the payment of over GMD767,000 in tuition fees for 24 students enrolled at the Management Development Institute (MDI), in what the council describes as part of its ongoing efforts to promote youth empowerment and education.

The council, led by Chairman Yankuba Darboe, disclosed the sponsorship in a statement posted on its official Facebook page. The financial support, totaling GMD767,025.00, is intended to cover professional courses for the students, aimed at enhancing their skills and preparing them to contribute to national development.“A total of GMD767,025.00 has been paid in tuition fees for 24 students enrolled at the Management Development Institute (MDI). These students are pursuing various professional courses that will strengthen their skills and prepare them to contribute meaningfully to national development,” the statement said.

BAC noted that this latest initiative builds on previous educational support it provided to students at the University of The Gambia and other institutions.

“This latest sponsorship complements our earlier support given to students at the University of The Gambia and other institutions, reinforcing our goal of building a knowledgeable, skilled, and empowered population in the West Coast Region,” the statement said.

Chairman Darboe’s administration emphasized its commitment to broadening educational access as a pathway to sustainable development.

“At BAC, we believe that investing in education is investing in the future. We remain committed to expanding opportunities for young people to thrive and become key drivers of progress for The Gambia,” the statement said.
