The Gambia government has strongly condemned attacks reportedly carried out by Houthi militants on two international airports in Saudi Arabia, expressing concern over the loss of life, injuries, and damage to property.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad described the attacks as a violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, warning that such acts threaten peace and security in the Middle East.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Gambians Abroad received with great concern and sadness news of Houthi militia attacks on two international airports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, resulting in death, injuries, and damage to properties,” the statement said.

The ministry reaffirmed The Gambia’s unwavering support for Saudi Arabia, expressing solidarity with the kingdom’s government and people in the wake of the attacks.

It also extended condolences to the families of those killed and expressed sympathy for the injured.

The ministry offered prayers for the deceased, asking Allah to grant them eternal peace and the highest place in Paradise, while wishing those injured a speedy recovery.

The statement underscored The Gambia’s continued diplomatic support for Saudi Arabia amid security challenges facing the region.
