The Ministry of Transport, Works and Infrastructure has signed a contract with Concorde Aviation Intelligence to conduct feasibility studies and develop plans for the modernization of Banjul International Airport, as part of efforts to upgrade The Gambia’s aviation infrastructure.

In a statement, the ministry said the contract covers transaction advisory services, including feasibility studies, detailed designs for a new airport terminal, and a long-term development plan to accommodate future growth in passenger traffic and airport operations.

The ministry said Concorde Aviation Intelligence, an international consulting firm with experience in several African countries and elsewhere, was selected through a competitive international tender process launched several months ago.

During a preliminary meeting held on Thursday, October 8, 2026, the Minister of Transport, Works and Infrastructure, Ebrima Sillah, assured the company’s chief executive officer, Jean Mark Bourreau, of the government’s full support for the project.

Mr. Bourreau, in turn, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality technical and advisory services to support the airport’s modernization.

The ministry described the agreement as part of the government’s broader efforts to improve the country’s transport infrastructure and strengthen its aviation sector.

“The engagement is part of the Ministry’s continued efforts to advance strategic infrastructure projects that strengthen The Gambia’s transport and aviation infrastructure,” the statement said.

The contract marks a planning phase in the proposed modernization of Banjul International Airport, with the studies expected to inform the project’s design, feasibility, and long-term expansion strategy.
