Dr. Kebba Daffeh of APP Sobeyaa has questioned the Barrow administration’s economic record, arguing that reported economic growth has yet to translate into meaningful improvements in the lives of ordinary Gambians.

Speaking on Kerr Fatou’s The Brunch Show, Daffeh was asked whether he agreed with the view that President Adama Barrow’s government had delivered through investments in infrastructure and health, and that the president’s development projects continued to draw public appreciation.

Daffeh acknowledged the government’s visible projects but argued that the more important measure of progress was whether Gambians were experiencing improvements in their standard of living.

“The president laying foundation blocks here and there at the time of election is déjà vu. We have seen it before. It doesn’t really count that much,” he said. “What counts is: What plans are there to improve the living standard of average Gambians?”

Daffeh said many Gambians continued to face fundamental economic challenges, particularly the rising cost of living and difficulties meeting basic household needs.

He argued that the economic realities experienced by ordinary citizens did not correspond with official figures showing growth in the Gambian economy.

According to the APP Sobeyaa official, economic hardship remains one of the most pressing concerns for average Gambians and should be central to any assessment of the government’s performance.

Daffeh maintained that while infrastructure and other development projects were important, economic growth should ultimately be measured by its impact on people’s daily lives and their ability to afford basic necessities.
