The Minister of Information, Media, and Broadcasting Services, Dr. Ismaila Ceesay, has dismissed criticism regarding the credibility of his ministry’s information dissemination, describing such concerns as politically motivated.

In an interview with QTV, Dr. Ceesay responded to allegations questioning the accuracy and reliability of public statements and press releases issued by his ministry.

He maintained that the ministry and its affiliated institutions remain a trusted source of information for millions of Gambians, emphasizing that the opinions of a small group of critics do not undermine public confidence.

“Even if we cough, they have an issue with it. We know who they are, we know they are politically conflicted, and we know their agenda. So it doesn’t bother us,” he stated.

Dr. Ceesay underscored that the ministry’s primary focus is to serve the broader public, noting that widespread reliance on state media platforms reflects continued trust in official information channels.

The minister has, however, faced recurring criticism following the publication of his statements in the media and official press releases. Critics have accused him of consistently defending the government, with some alleging that such communications amount to misinformation.

Despite this, Dr. Ceesay reiterated that the ministry remains committed to its mandate of informing the public accurately and responsibly.
