The Minister of Fisheries, Water Resources, and National Assembly Matters, Musa Drammeh, has called on residents of Foday Kunda to disregard opposition messaging, arguing that rival parties lack concrete proposals to improve the lives of citizens.

Dr. Drammeh made the remarks during a meeting addressed by President Adama Barrow in Foday Kunda, held in conjunction with the launch of new road development projects in the area.

Addressing the gathering, the minister urged continued support for President Barrow, dismissing opposition criticism as lacking substance. “They are telling you not to support a third term for President Barrow, but even in our culture, you do not abandon a good partner. Barrow has delivered for The Gambia, and we should stand by him,” he said. He further encouraged voters to turn out in large numbers on December 5 and not to be swayed by what he described as “intangible criticisms.”

Dr. Drammeh highlighted a range of government interventions in the area, including road infrastructure, access to clean water and electricity, healthcare services, agricultural support such as fertilizer provision and improved groundnut prices, as well as ambulance services. “You have received what you asked for—what is it that you are lacking?” he asked residents.

He also criticized the opposition’s campaign approach, suggesting that parties confident in their support base should engage communities through structured regional meetings rather than large rallies.

The minister concluded by urging eligible residents who have not yet obtained voter cards to register, emphasizing the importance of electoral participation. He noted that voter registration is key to sustaining development, including access to roads and electricity.
