The National Assembly Member for Latrikunda Sabiji and a senior figure in the UNITE Movement for Change, Hon. Yahya Menteng Sanyang, has commended Talib Bensouda for his contributions to local government administration in The Gambia, describing his work as foundational and enduring.
In a statement published on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, Hon. Sanyang praised Bensouda’s development initiatives within local councils, asserting that his influence on local governance remains unmatched.
“Whatever initiatives a leader undertakes in Gambian local government administration today or in the future, Talib remains the academic book in the library of local government administration,” he said.
He emphasized the importance of acknowledging intellectual and practical contributions in governance, drawing a parallel with academic standards of referencing and attribution.
“When taking initiatives in local councils, you must include references. Many professors and lecturers will mark down your work if you fail to attribute ideas correctly,” he said. “Referencing isn’t just a requirement; it is about giving credit to the original thinker.”
Hon. Sanyang further urged policymakers, local government officials, and stakeholders to recognize and reference Bensouda’s work when formulating and implementing initiatives at the local government level.
“For any local government initiative in The Gambia, ensure you reference Talib,” he concludes.
