The Commission of Inquiry into the Conduct of all Local Government Councils has been granted a one-month extension, according to a recent legal notice published in The Gambia Gazette. The extension, which is the third for the commission, is effective from September 1 to September 30, 2025.

Legal Notice No. 17 of 2025, issued by His Excellency Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia, formally extends the commission’s duration. The notice states the extension is “deemed to have come into effect from September 1 to 30th, 2025,” and was issued on August 29, 2025.

The Commission of Inquiry was established to investigate the conduct of all local government councils and related matters. The purpose of the extension is to allow the commission to complete its work.

The legal notice, which is a supplement to The Gambia Gazette No. 36 of September 2, 2025, cites the powers conferred on the President by Legal Notice No. 13 of 2024. This marks the third time the commission’s operational period has been extended.
