President Adama Barrow has declared that his future political support will be reserved for those who demonstrate loyalty, stressing that backing will be measured by concrete actions and votes.

The president made the remarks at the State House in Banjul during a meeting with newly elected National People’s Party (NPP) councillors, Omar Touray of Kiang Kaiaf Ward and Abdoulie Badjie of Foni Bantanjang Ward. He said he is approaching the 2027 elections with a firm focus on accountability and proven support.

“We are wiser now. The yardstick I will use is the votes. In 2027, if you are not supporting President Barrow, he will also not be there for you,” the president stated.

Barrow acknowledged that some citizens may withhold political support regardless of government efforts.

“Some people, even if I give them diamonds in their house and diamond beds, they will not vote for me,” he said.

He urged councillors and party members to begin early preparations and intensify mobilization ahead of the upcoming polls.

“You know what you have, but you don’t know what is coming. We are approaching elections; let us all start the campaign today,” he said.

The president reaffirmed the NPP’s commitment to national development, while underscoring that political cooperation would be tied to demonstrated electoral support.

“In 2027, if you are not supporting President Barrow, he will not be with you,” he reiterated.
