The Gambia Immigration Department (GID) has confirmed the reception of 101 convicted foreign nationals and community citizens from the Gambia Police Force on 16th and 17th September 2025. This follows two separate court rulings issued by the Brikama Magistrates’ Court on 15th September 2025.

According to the department, the individuals, including Chinese, Nigerian, and Vietnamese nationals, were charged and convicted of “unlawful possession of devices and data, computer-related extortion, fraud, and forgery,” in violation of Sections 168 and 173 of the Information and Communications Act.

“The court orders the GID to confine the convicts in a secure place at their own expense and facilitate deportation procedures to their country of origin within 10 days, in line with Part VII, sections 15 and 16 of the Immigration Act 1965, as amended,” the statement read.

The department further confirmed that it is actively managing all travel arrangements at the expense of the convicts, reclaiming their personal belongings as specified by the court, and ensuring all individuals are properly registered in the Migration Information and Data Analysis System (MIDAS) prior to completion of deportation procedures.

“The GID reaffirms its commitment to operating within the confines of the law and extends gratitude to the Gambia Police Force for the strong inter-agency cooperation in promoting peace and national security,” the statement added.
