WCR Governor Urges Kombo Residents to Back Barrow, Citing Development Projects

Ousman Bojang, the governor of the West Coast Region, has urged residents of Kombo to support President Adama Barrow in the Dec. 5 presidential election, pointing to development projects in the area as evidence that the president deserves another mandate.

Mr. Bojang made the appeal on Tuesday during the inauguration of the Sanyang beachside road, where he told residents that they should weigh the government’s development record as they decide whom to support in the election.

With political activity intensifying ahead of the vote, the governor said residents would hear competing messages from political parties and candidates but should focus on what he described as tangible improvements being delivered in their communities.

“The developments happening in Kombo today reflect what our elders had spoken about, and they are being shown through President Barrow,” Mr. Bojang said.

He argued that the projects being implemented across Kombo demonstrated the government’s commitment to developing the area and improving the lives of residents.

Mr. Bojang also urged voters not to be swayed by political promises as campaigning gathers pace, saying residents should instead assess leaders on their record.

He said the people of Kombo had, in the past, supported politicians without seeing the development they had been promised. Under President Barrow, he argued, residents were now witnessing projects that should influence their decision at the polls.

The governor appealed to residents to reciprocate what he described as the government’s investment in Kombo by supporting Mr. Barrow in December.

His remarks came as the president and his allies increasingly highlight infrastructure and other development projects as they seek to persuade voters to give Mr. Barrow another term in office.

The inauguration of the Sanyang beachside road also provided government officials with an opportunity to showcase infrastructure development in the West Coast Region, a politically significant part of the country heading into the December election.
