The Unite Movement for Change said it is confident that its registration with the Independent Electoral Commission would be approved after it resubmits revised documents addressing concerns raised by the commission.

In an interview with Kerr Fatou, Kemo Bojang, the party’s spokesperson, said the movement had completed all corrections identified during the review process and expected the matter to be resolved favorably.

“We are confident that this matter will be concluded positively,” Mr. Bojang said. “Every issue raised has been addressed thoroughly. Every procedural concern has been rectified. We did not take shortcuts. We did not assume anything. We did the work.”

Mr. Bojang characterized the commission’s feedback as part of a routine administrative review rather than a setback. He said the party conducted internal assessments, consulted its legal advisers, and strengthened its documentation before preparing the revised submission.

“All corrections have now been completed,” he said. “Our documents are finalized, and the formal resubmission will be done shortly. UMC remains fully compliant with the laws of The Gambia and confident as the process advances to its next stage. This is not a setback; it is simply part of building a serious national movement.”

The party maintains that it has met all legal requirements under the country’s electoral framework. Mr. Bojang said the movement had approached the process “with discipline and respect for institutions” and believed it had satisfied—and in some respects exceeded—the standards required for registration.

“UNITE believes it has met and even exceeded the legal standards required for registration. We have approached this process with discipline and respect for institutions,” he said.

He added that the party intends to field a presidential candidate in accordance with Gambian law once its registration is confirmed.

“As the spokesperson, I say this with conviction: UNITE is not entering this race to participate,” Mr. Bojang said. “We are entering to win and to govern responsibly for every Gambian, regardless of tribe, region, or political background. The future we are building is bigger than one election. It is about national renewal.”
