Ousainou Darboe, leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP), expressed delight and gratitude upon being warmly received by numerous young men and women following his European tour. Addressing the gathering, Darboe assured the youth that their concerns will be prioritized under a UDP-led government.
Referring to the young people as his “daughters, sons, and grandchildren,” Darboe acknowledged their desire for change, emphasizing that meaningful improvements in their lives can only come under the UDP.
“They are crying for employment; it is not a privilege, it is a right, and they could have been properly employed if the billions of Dalasi by this incompetent government were properly applied in creating jobs, advancing the fish industry, promoting agriculture, and improving health service delivery,” he said.
Darboe stressed that focused attention on these critical areas by the Barrow administration could greatly enhance the welfare of the country’s youth.
“My promise to you is that with an Ousainu Darboe-led government, your needs will be attended to. We are not just making promises because when we were there for about 18 months, we showed what we can do,” he added.
The UDP leader further assured that a Darboe-led government would be disciplined, responsive, and fully attentive to the needs of the people.
Speaking to supporters outside his Pipeline compound, Darboe noted that Gambians in the diaspora deeply feel the nation’s challenges. During his tour, he observed a strong commitment among them to collaborate with the UDP in achieving the change they collectively desire over the next thirteen months.
He added that these individuals are particularly concerned about poor living conditions, corruption, inefficiency, and the perceived shortcomings of the Barrow administration. “But I think you are more concerned because I see several young men and women whom I consider to be my daughters, sons, and grandchildren.”
