The Big Tree has fallen but the indelible footprints of the Legend lives on…We are very saddened by the unfortunate demise of the great football icon, Alhaji Momodou Njie (Biri Biri). He raised the profile of his country in distant lands through soccer and brought honour & recognition upon the name of his country. He was a pacesetter, a veritable role model for many Gambians and a respected community leader. His demise is a great loss to the Nation.
Biri’s life was a lesson in humility despite his towering status. His usual trademark smile, charismatic demeanour and down-to-earth disposition, were consistently inspiring and assuring. On behalf of the larger GMC Family, I wish to extend our condolences to his immediate family, loved ones, relatives, the soccer fraternity and The Gambian nation. May Allah grant all concerned the fortitude to bear this huge loss. May Allah have Mercy on his soul and admit him into Jannatul Firdaws. Ameen.
