Sallah: Team Gambia Not Competing With Rival Coalitions, Vows to Return National Wealth to Citizens

Halifa Sallah, a veteran politician and one of the coordinators of the Team Gambia Grand Coalition, says the coalition is not competing with anyone and that its aim is to return the country’s wealth to the people.

He was speaking on Monday at a Team Gambia press conference, in response to a question about the existence of other opposition coalitions.

“Each single individual has a contract with your country and your people. How do you fulfill the contract? That is the question all of us are being asked,” he said.

He added that the coalition’s answer is that the nation’s wealth must be handed back to the people. “If other coalitions, parties, or individuals are telling Gambians the same and the people believe them, they should vote for them,” he said, “as our coalition just wants poverty to be put to an end.”

Mr Sallah said Gambians should not support any group seeking to take power or manage the affairs of society unless it is ready to hand power and wealth back to the people for their development. He said Team Gambia would set an example in this regard.

He stressed that the coalition was not competing with anyone but wanted every Gambian to be committed to loving and serving the country and its people. He expressed hope that those committed to that cause would ultimately come together to serve and save the nation.
