President Adama Barrow has officially launched a 35.2-kilometer feeder roads project in the Central River Region, aimed at boosting agricultural productivity and improving access to markets for farmers.

The initiative includes the 3.2 km Sinchu Alhagie–Pateh Sam road, as well as a 32 km stretch connecting Cha Kunda, Sare Soffie, Chargel, Madina Duta Wally, Nyamen Kunda, and Dobong Kunda—linking 53 communities to the Bansang highway.

The launch is part of President Barrow’s six-day nationwide tour to inaugurate the construction of 204.7 kilometers of feeder roads across The Gambia.

Addressing residents in Sare Soffie and Upper Fulladou, President Barrow reaffirmed his commitment to delivering development to communities that elected him. He said, “People may try to distract or confuse you, but let them talk while we continue our work. Today, this community has access to water, electricity, schools, and now roads are being constructed. This is progress and peace.”

He also acknowledged the World Bank for its ongoing support in The Gambia’s development efforts.

Residents of the beneficiary communities expressed their excitement, highlighting the expected positive impact of the new roads on transportation, trade, and overall economic activity.
