The One Gambia One Voice Movement, led by Halifa Jawara, has joined Coalition 2026 as a partner ahead of the December presidential election, adding another political group to the opposition alliance seeking to contest the vote.

Coalition 2026 announced the partnership in a letter dated Oct. 5, acknowledging the movement’s endorsement of the coalition and its decision to formally join the alliance.

The coalition said the partnership reflected a shared commitment to national unity, inclusive political participation, good governance, and peaceful democratic engagement.

“Coalition 2026 recognizes the important role that political movements can play in strengthening democratic participation and ensuring that the voices and aspirations of Gambians are represented in the national political process,” the coalition said.

It added that it looked forward to building a “constructive, respectful, and mutually beneficial partnership” with the movement.

Coalition 2026 also thanked the One Gambia One Voice Movement for expressing confidence in the alliance and said it would formally welcome the group as a partner.

The addition of the movement comes as Coalition 2026 continues efforts to broaden its political support ahead of the presidential election.
