The newly appointed Auditor General, Cherno Amadou Sowe, officially assumed duties today at the National Audit Office.
According to sources, operations at the institution have returned to normal, with senior management encouraging staff to continue their work without interruption. Field officers were also deployed today as Mr. Sowe began settling into his new role.
Mr. Modou Ceesay, who was forcefully removed from office yesterday by officers of the Police Intervention Unit (PIU), has announced his intention to challenge the decision at the Supreme Court.
Speaking at a press briefing alongside his attorney, Mr. Ceesay stated that he would contest his removal. However, the suit has not yet been filed.
