Momodou King Colley has officially resigned from the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC), bringing to an end seven years of service within the opposition party.
Colley, who previously served as the party’s National Youth Secretary, later chaired its West Coast Region 2 branch and was a parliamentary candidate in the 2022 general election, confirmed that his resignation takes immediate effect.
In a letter addressed to the party’s Secretary General, Colley expressed appreciation for the opportunities afforded to him during his tenure.
“I really appreciate the opportunities I have been given during my stay in the party and am grateful for the experience,” he wrote, highlighting his seven-year leadership of the party’s youth wing, his role as chairman for West Coast 2, and his participation in the 2022 parliamentary election as key milestones in his political journey.
Colley did not disclose specific reasons for his departure, stating only that he believes it is time to move on.
“While thanking the party for continued success in its endeavors, I have decided it’s time for me to move on,” he stated.
