Lamin Ceesay, the National Assembly member for Kiang West, has praised the government for recent improvements to road infrastructure in his constituency, describing the projects as beneficial to local communities.

Speaking during a parliamentary debate on the report of the National Assembly’s Select Committee on Monitoring the Implementation of Government Projects, Mr. Ceesay expressed appreciation to the administration of President Adama Barrow and the Ministry of Works for constructing the Kiang West road.

“Let me use this opportunity to thank the government through the Ministry of Works for the construction of Kiang West Road,” he said, noting that the ministry had responded positively to concerns raised by residents about challenges encountered during the project.

Mr. Ceesay said the ministry had engaged with the community and addressed several requests aimed at improving the implementation of the roadworks.

He also highlighted road improvements in other parts of the constituency, particularly in Karantaba and Keneba, saying the developments were having a positive impact on residents.

“If you look at Karantaba the road that goes inside Karantaba going through Keneba also, that also we appreciated it, and we want to say thank you very much,” he said.

While commending the progress, the lawmaker urged the government to prioritize completing ongoing infrastructure projects before launching new ones, citing financial constraints and the challenges associated with managing multiple projects simultaneously.

“It is prudent that the government focus on the projects that are ongoing and leave other projects for later,” he said.

Mr. Ceesay also appealed to the government to consider constructing the road linking Kulikunda and Jamaru, describing it as a short but important route used by students and residents in the area.
