The Secretary General and leader of the Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) has thanked his party supporters, despite losing all parliamentary seats in Saturday’s election.
“I thank you all for your efforts. I am saying sorry for all the struggle and I pray for everyone who sponsors our campaign to help our candidates. I cannot do anything but to thank all the GDC party militants. You have done what you can; we did not own the voters. They own themselves. They can decide to vote for any person they want. We have no control over them; they have decided to vote their choice. We wanted to win but God didn’t destined it to happen. My advice is for all of us to give everything to Allah and know it’s not the end of the world,” Mama Kandeh addressed his supporters in an audio recording shared with Kerr Fatou.
In Saturday’s election, the opposition Gambia Democratic Congress (GDC) could not maintain any of the five parliamentary seats it had won in the 2017 Parliamentary Election.
