Essa Mbye Faal, leader of the APP-Sobeya political party, has raised concerns over what he described as widespread irregularities at several voter registration centers during the ongoing supplementary registration exercise across the country, warning against illegal attestations and potential foreign interference in the electoral process.

Speaking at a registration center in remarks shared in a video posted to his official social media page, Mr. Faal said he was currently touring various parts of the country to observe the registration process firsthand.

“Much of the stealing during elections happens during registration through the use of attestations illegally and improperly,” he said.

Mr. Faal urged Gambians to remain vigilant and to ensure that the electoral process is not compromised, adding that citizens should resist any attempts to influence the outcome of elections through external interference.

He also said his party, APP-Sobeya, in collaboration with the Unite Movement for Change (UMC), has deployed representatives across registration centers nationwide to monitor the process and safeguard its integrity.

“We will take action at the appropriate time regarding the irregularities we have detected. Everything is being documented,” he said.

Mr. Faal further noted that many Gambians he encountered during his visits appeared alert to what he described as attempts to undermine the integrity of the electoral process, adding that citizens were determined to ensure that the elections reflect the will of the people.
