A Wullinkama man is facing charges after allegedly drifting his vehicle through a Brusubi neighborhood, crashing it into an electrical pole, and abandoning it at the scene on Saturday afternoon.

Amadou Bah was arrested and charged by Brusubi Police following the incident, which occurred around 3:00 p.m. on August 16. According to a police report, authorities received calls about a vehicle, a white sedan with license plate BJL 6603 W, being driven dangerously in the area. The car ultimately struck and knocked down a NAWEC electrical pole before being left behind by the driver.

Police secured the vehicle for examination and began an investigation. Later that day, they identified Mr. Bah as the driver and took him into custody.

Bah appeared before Magistrate K. Baldeh at the Brusubi Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, August 16, to face two charges: dangerous driving and driving without a license.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge of dangerous driving but admitted to driving without a license. For the latter offense, he was fined D1,000 and sentenced to a mandatory four-month jail term.

The case concerning the dangerous driving charge has been adjourned until August 25 for the continuation of proceedings.

In a statement, police affirmed their commitment to cracking down on drifting and other forms of reckless driving on public roads to ensure public safety.
