DLEAG Arrests 31-Year-Old Gambian With 37 Blocks of Suspected Cocaine at Banjul International Airport

The Drug Law Enforcement Agency (DLEAG), The Gambia, on Friday arrested a 31-year-old Gambian national, Alieu Jeng, a resident of Nema Kunku, at the Banjul International Airport in connection with the seizure of 37 blocks of suspected cocaine.

In a statement, DLEAG disclosed that the suspect was found in possession of the suspected drugs concealed in two black suitcases and a school bag.

“Mr. Jeng was arrested with (𝟑𝟕) 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐬 of suspected cocaine concealed in two black suitcases and a school bag,” DLEAG reported.

The Agency further explained that Mr. Jeng, who was identified as a staff member of NIRO Company, was apprehended while proceeding to the airside to offload cargo. Acting on reasonable suspicion, DLEAG officers conducted a search of the tractor associated with the suspect, during which the two black traveling bags and the school bag containing the suspected cocaine were discovered.

Mr. Jeng is currently in custody as investigations into the matter continue.
