Bob Touray has resigned with immediate effect as chairman of the United Democratic Party’s (UDP) Diaspora Campaign and Organizing Committee, ending his tenure in one of the party’s key overseas roles.

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Sunday, January 4, 2026, Mr. Touray announced his resignation to Mboge Saidykhan, chairman of the UDP diaspora chapters. “Chairman Mboge Saidykhan, I hereby resign my position with immediate effect today, the 4th January 2026, from my position as Diaspora Campaign and Organizing Committee chairman and also as an executive member of the UDP diaspora,” he wrote.

Shortly after Mr. Touray’s announcement, the UDP Finland chapter issued a separate statement declaring that it had expelled him from his positions as chapter chairman and as Finland’s representative within the broader diaspora structure.

“The UDP Finland Chapter expels Bob Touray as their chair with immediate effect,” the statement said, while noting that the chapter does not have the authority to expel members from the party nationally.

The Finland chapter accused Mr. Touray of maintaining links with the Unite Movement for Change (UMC), alleging it had obtained “irrefutable evidence” of his association, including an audio recording in which he was said to have criticized the UDP and distanced himself from the party.

“The reason for his expulsion is that the chapter received irrefutable evidence of his association, membership, and executive position in the Unite Movement,” the statement said. It further alleged that the UMC had shared an audio recording in which Mr. Touray was “categorically bad-mouthing UDP and distancing himself from the party.”

Despite the expulsion, the Finland chapter acknowledged Mr. Touray’s past contributions. “The executive and general membership wish to thank Bob Touray for the good job he did as the chair of the Finland Chapter,” the statement added.

Mr. Touray has not publicly responded to the specific allegations made by the Finland chapter beyond his resignation announcement.
